It's hard to believe that our little man is 8 weeks old today! We were talking yesterday, and William's stay in the hospital seems like a lifetime ago, yet, we can't believe how big he is getting. Every day seems like he is reaching a new milestone. He has more alert times, and the alert times are longer. William loves staring at lights. He is also starting to grasp objects, shirt collars, fingers, and mommy's hair. Happy 2 month birthday William, we love you!

Merry Be-Lated Christmas!
These past two days have been jam packed with family time. Christmas Eve we enjoyed a delicious Prime Rib dinner with Grandpa Steve, Grandma Susan, and Uncle Ryan. The dogs, Maggie and Riley were surprisingly well behaved and got to meet William after dinner was over.
It was a long day, but we loved spending time with our families!
We called it a somewhat early evening and headed home to put our Christmas jammies on. William wore his Cowboy Santa pj's from Aunt Betsy and it was off to bed for us. The Cowboy Santa was so cute, we decided to make it his Christmas day outfit too!
Christmas day, while busy, also managed to be somewhat relaxing. William allowed us to sleep in until 8:15, which was a nice present for us! When we ventured downstairs, we saw that Santa had visited and piled a good amount of gifts under the tree...most of the presents would be leaving with us, but William did get a few things...mainly clothes, a few books, and toys.
Once the gifts were opened, and mom and dad enjoyed a Christmas breakfast, we headed out for a family walk. After all, we had to work off the calories we would be consuming at the two family dinners. It was a beautiful, but chilly morning! Thank you Jason and Caitlin for William's outfit...he was definitely the warmest out of all of us.
Our first stop of the day was Grandma Victoria and Grandpa Dave's where we opened gifts, and enjoyed a delicious turkey dinner, complete with sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, and stuffing! It was so good!
We were then off to our other Grandparents for turkey dinner round two. Somehow, mom and dad had enough room for the second dinner. William got to meet his cousins, Jacob and Owen, and opened even more gifts.
It was a long day, but we loved spending time with our families!

Sleep!
Somehow, the hospital had engrained in us that William needed to eat every 3 hours, which meant 1 am and 4 am feedings. Every night we would set an alarm for these feeding times, and wake Will up. That is, until Jen asked us what we were doing. Thank you Jen for nicely explaining to us that as long as William was putting on weight, he would wake us up when he was hungry. This is hands down some of the best advice we have received! William has been waking up once in the night, usually around 3 am, and then sleeping the rest of the night...this past weekend we slept in until 8 am! Thank you Jen!!!

Countdown to Christmas!
It is hard to believe that Christmas is in less than a week! But, we've done our best and feel ready. This past weekend we were visited by our good friends Jen and son Alex, and Margaret who is home for Christmas. I think Will was taken by Margaret and we hope she will be moving back to Seattle soon!
Around the White household, the presents have been bought (still need to be wrapped), Christmas tree has been purchased and decorated
and the stockings have been hung.
Today, with the help of Auntie Ellen, cookies have been baked. We baked chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, and peanut butter chocolate kisses...yum!
We wish everyone a very merry Christmas!Saturday, December 12, 2009
Santa...He Does Exist!
After much debating, we decided to brave the cold and take William for his first Santa visit at Redmond Town Center. The line, which was outside, was surprisingly short, and after about 30 minutes, William got to meet the man in the red suit! I'm sure Santa will bring him all sorts of good stuff this year.

Happy Supposed "Birth Day"
Well, yesterday, December 6th, was William's supposed birth date. Instead, he was 36 days old! It's still hard to believe. He is growing up so quickly. His newborn clothes barely fit and we are getting ready to transition him into his 0-3 month clothes. We tried his "going home outfit" on again, and it is still too big.
We are falling into a comfortable routine and Bailee is more comfortable with him. She is quite the concerned older sister, checking in on him whenever she hears him fussing around. We've been going on daily walks, when the weather permits, and William is as content as can be, cooing all the way. He is having more awake time, is smiling, and tracking/focusing on objects (ie his parents and Bailee). :)

1 Month Dr. Appointment
William had his one month doctor visit today and had a perfect check-up. He now weighs 8 lbs 8 oz and measures 21.5 inches which means that he has gained over 2 lbs since he was born and grown over 2 inches. William is gaining about 1.5 oz a day. Way to go little man!

1 Month Old Already!
Where does the time go?! William celebrated his 1 month birthday yesterday. In honor of Apple Cup, William sported his WSU onesie. There wasn't much to be excited about during the 30-0 loss, but at least he looked cute.
We also took the opportunity to have another mini photo shoot, with his stuffed friends. William also got to meet his Aunt Jaime and Uncle Chris.
We can't believe how big William is getting! Thursday he goes to the doctor, so we'll let you know how he measures up.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Mmmmm, Thumbs are Delicious
So, yesterday, when I went to change William's diaper, I found him doing this...
He's figured out how to suck his thumb! I think the next step will be making a fist while sucking his thumb so he doesn't have his whole hand on his face.

Photo Shoot Day
Well, today was the infamous photo shoot day. I had a bunch of ideas in my head, but things didn't go quite how I imagined they would. I've come to the conclusion that my camera just doesn't measure up to the ones the professionals use. Who knows though, Christmas is coming up, maybe Santa will bring me a better one. In the meantime, I will be taking up my friend Jen's offer to take some photos of William. I'm sure she will have much better success then me.
Here are a few of the decent shots we got.

Lazy Sunday!
We love lazy Sundays and today was no exception. Besides getting much needed housework done around the house, the day was spent relaxing on the sofa. William watched his first Seahawk's game with dad and didn't seem phased by the loss, even though dad was (yet again).
We were also paid a visit by our best friend Jennifer and son Alex.
It looks like Alex and William became fast friends.
Today was also William's first bath at home! It doesn't look like he minded too much.
The day is ending with William watching the MLS Cup game with daddy. Too bad our Sounders aren't playing.
We are planning a photo shoot tomorrow and hoping to duplicate the photos that were taken while we were in the hospital by Bella Baby Photography. www.bellababyphotography.com/login the password is 1031williamwhite. These photos are only available for viewing this week and while super cute, very pricey. We'll let you know how the photo shoot goes!

What a Week!
This was posted Saturday, November 21st. :)
This past week has been somewhat of a wirlwind. All along, we have had nurses and other parents say that when babies turn a corner, everything happens very quickly. Boy, they weren't kidding. Last weekend, William had 17 successful feeds in a row and his doctor said that he could go ad lib demand, which meant he called the shots as to when he ate and how much he wanted.
And the car ride home.
In order to get discharged, the doctor wanted to see him continue to gain weight on his own feeding schedule. In addition, we got a "rooming in room." The room was not very glamorous with one twin bed, a small pull out chair, and tv with no remote and limited channels, but, William was able to stay in the room with us, hooked up to all his monitors of course.
William gained a few ounces his first full day on ad lib demand and we thought that we could see the light at the end of the tunnel. To our suprise, the doctor was not very impressed with the amount of food that he took in over the two days of rooming in with us and was considering holding him for another day or two. We had been feeding William every 4 hours, but we told the doctor that we would wake him up more often to feed. The doctor agreed this sounded like a good plan and put in the discharge order last Tuesday!
Here we are, getting ready to leave the hospital!
And the car ride home.
Tuesday was a busy day for William. He met Bailee.
His Auntie Ellen.
Grandma Victoria came to visit too.
And so did Jason and Caitlin.
We had our first adventure out of the house Wednesday for a quick walk around the neighborhood.
And last Thursday, William had his first visit to his Pediatrician. His visit couldn't have gone better! William weighed in at 7 lbs 2 ounces (almost 1 lb heavier than his birth weight), was 20.5" long, and had a head circumfrence of 13.5". He was the perfect angel for the doctor, and the doctor even asked if he was this quiet all the time.
On Friday, Uncle Pat and Houston came to visit William.
William really has been an angel. We have him on a 3 hour feeding schedule which we found works best for him. Aside from waking his up for his feedings in the middle of the night, he is a somewhat sound sleeper. He does not wake up crying, but he does make grunting noises when he sleeps. He sounds very much like a billy goat.
